Slaton customers can hand the keys over at the shop, or have the vehicle collected and returned at no charge. Everything happens inside town limits, so a same-week slot is usually straightforward.
Slaton opened on June 15, 1911 as a Santa Fe division point, named for rancher and banker O. L. Slaton, and it grew around the roundhouse, the machine shops and a two-story depot that kept four daily trains moving. The railroad wound down through the late 1960s. What is left is a town of around 5,700 on US 84 where people keep vehicles a long time and would rather look after them than replace them.
Cotton dust, caliche and hard water do not care what you paid for the vehicle. Heavy soil, excessive mud and pet hair are quoted separately so a genuinely rough job never turns into a surprise at the end.
